Afcod-uganda’s mandate is to promote and protect human rights and freedoms as enshrined under the international protocols. We achieve this through advocacy and sensitizing the public and collaborating with other law agencies and organisations. Through engagements with government and visiting in mates under custody and prisons to ensure respect and protection of their rights to liberty. We fight against illegal practices such as torture, mob justice and all kind of degrading and inhuman treatment against persons.

Temporary Relocation for The Human Rights Defenders

AFCOD-Uganda strengthens the foundations of democracy by nurturing a new generation of pro-democracy and social justice oriented human rights defenders to spur the change in the communities.

It addresses the safety, protection, temporary relocation, legal aid, enhancing access to justice, psycho-social support and empowerment of grassroots Human Rights Defenders through capacity building trainings, documentation of rights violations and abuse to support strategic advocacy and strengthening HRDs voices by increasing awareness and stakeholders and partners engagements to advance these Rights.

Through Conducting Pre-entry identification of HRDs, relocation and placement within and outside the home country; Visa Processing; Travel costs to and within relocation location; Facilitating the Stay in the relocation location; Support for return to home country; Monitoring and follow-up; Health Insurance; Living expenses and housing; Conducting Security analysis and planning; Family support; and facilitation of the return to the home country after temporary relocation of the HRDs.
